📅 Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2025
🕕 Time: 6:00 PM
📍 Location: Fat Cat Fab Lab, 224 West 4th Street, New York, NY, 10014
🧩 Overview¶
Join us for a hands-on class on how to run your own Bitcoin node. A Bitcoin node connects your wallet directly to the Bitcoin network, allowing you to verify your own transactions, strengthen the network, and choose which consensus rules to follow.
By the end of the class, you'll understand:
- What a Bitcoin node is and how it works
 - Why running your own node matters for sovereignty and privacy
 - How to set up, configure, and use your own node hardware

💡 Bring your own hardware and an 8GB+ flash drive to get the most out of this class!
🧰 Recommended Hardware Options¶
1. HP 600 G2 Micro Computer Mini Tower PC — $115¶
The sweet spot between affordability and performance. If out of stock, consider the HP EliteDesk Mini 800 G3 — $150. Also grab a 2TB NVMe SSD — $100.
2. Raspberry Pi 4 (8GB) — $100¶
For those just experimenting or learning. Add a cooling fan — $6, 64GB microSD card — $10, and optionally a case — $17.
⚠️ This setup is fine for testing, but not recommended for long-term reliability.
3. Start9 Server One — $620¶
Plug-and-play option with StartOS pre-installed. Perfect for those who want a smooth setup experience and are okay with paying a premium.
4. Build Your Own Node¶
If you’d like to choose your own hardware, ensure your machine meets these minimum specs:
- CPU: Quad-core @ 2.5GHz+
 - RAM: 16GB+
 - Storage: 2TB+
